On the top of this large sloped plot we were assigned to develop two independent luxury villas – the larger unit (Villa 1) serving as the clients’ main residence, and the much smaller unit (Villa 2) for guests or a holiday rental villa.
Both are positioned on the highest and flat point of the site, in order to take advantage of the views of both sides. Their materials and formal language derives from the local architecture, though it has a very modern approach. Their stone basis emerge from the topography and on it clean white cubic cantilevering volumes generate the two storey buildings which fade into white wooden pergolas.
Villa 1 hosts two large guestrooms and the garage in its stone plinth. On the main floor a study, generous kitchen and sizeable living room which opens up to the terrace and pool can be found. Finally the top floor houses the master bedroom and private study. All floors enjoy their own large exterior terraces.
Villa 2 has an almost identical program as Villa 1, though without a pool or closed garage space in much more humbly dimensioned spaces. Consequently the total surface barely exceeds 1/3 of its big brother’s sum.
